Just one of those days...

Friday was one of those Spring days where the air tasted fresh and the city took on a new sense of being. I saw more customers carrying beautiful sprays of flowers wrapped in colorful tissue. Here are Snapdragons from the farmer's market wrapped in light pink tissue paper that captured the moment.

Serine, of Paper Trail in Rhinebeck, stopped by and I immediately noticed the pattern on her tote. She says it is lightweight so it is great to carry around as she travels through the city.

A bouquet of yellow roses and a book were part of the outfit of a Jeanine Payer fan.

I photographed Alison's purple flower to show her how I use the "flower" option on my canon. This is a new image to add to my flower collection.

Eavesdropping or commenting...

Eavesdropping on a conversation or making a comment can bring out the most amazing tidbits...

Joe W., interior designer, stopped by Cursive to say hello and during our conversation he asked if I knew anything about Belgium. Out of the corner of my eye I saw this woman listening and then she piped in to say that her mother is Belgian and she lived there as a young child. This turned into a lively 20 minute conversation where there seem to be so much information that I gave Joe a pen and a piece of paper to record all these delicious tidbits. Her name is Ru and watching her explain and gesture with such enthusiasm was the highlight of the day.

I made a comment on the lavender wrapped in coral/pink tissue which led me to ask if I could photograph the lavender which led to the customer telling me she is a food stylist/photographer and showing me how how her piece of Pecorino cheese had been wrapped with a piece of wool made from the sheeps on the farm, dancing ewe, and that I should definitely visit their booth at the market. Wow, that was a mouthful...!

How cute are these earrings? Immediately spotted these cute earrings designed by a local designer that Mary, who works at fishs eddy, was wearing. Unfortunately, they don't come in separates as shown above but in matching styles. Mary, was wearing some samples when I photographed them. I went to check out the other styles and found a pair of cleavers, potato masher, egg beater and spatula etc... They would make great gifts for mother's day!

J.S. was trying on some Gabriella Sanchez earrings and I could see her reflection in the long mirror in front of Cursive. As she was debating, I commented on which color and style I thought looked good on her. When she turned around I noticed all the Temple St. Clair jewelry she was wearing and I just happened to be wearing my small 22K leaf earrings. We exchanged contact info as she wanted to know where she could purchase the leaf earrings. She was also carrying an Orla Kiely bag which was in a beautiful rich red color! Yum!

Zoe and Alice (a lifestyle & weddings photographer) from South Australia were so much fun to talk to especially as they both work in a shop called little bird and they could relate to the same sensibility that Cursive had.

I stopped by Cursive GCT, on my way to J-cation at the Japan Society Saturday evening, and was surprised by all the colors and patterns.

This pattern on a shoulder bag by Wagg-a-Bagg in Harbourville, Nova Scotia is so pretty. From afar it looked like scales.

This journal & notebook (lined) and sketchbook (unlined) are a nice size to jot down inspiration & collage with business cards & postcards while travelling through the Big Apple and beyond.

Julie, whom I met through our mutual friend Catherine, and were chatting about things & jcrew when I spotted this woman (below) wearing almost everything jcrew. Julie's safety pin closure was just the right look for her ribbed sweater and corduroy jacket.

This jcrew blazer with the contrasting trim has been a favorite of mine, and no I don't own it, but love seeing it layered underneath with all sorts of things.

I love packaging and the graphics always inspire me. Maybe it was the olive green with the delicacy of the brown illustration that caught my eye.

New scents are mixing with our diffusers in shape of these gorgeous candles. Illustrations are by Don Carney. The whale: a mixture of l'orange, patchouli, basil and jasmine, is my all time favorite at the moment. I would flatten the packaging, frame it and hang in my hallway.

Beatrice Coron, an artist who showed in "Slash: Under the Knife" at the Museum of Arts & Design, created this artwork: All Around Town" for Arts for Transit. The material she uses is called Tyvek which you can find in envelopes and in clothing.

My friend Julie and I saw her "Hells" and "Heavens" artwork in the Slash exhibit but weren't able to take photos. When I stumbled across the above poster, several different times on the N train, I waited until I had enough time on the train to take some photos and email it to Julie.

I met Emily, her mother and her grandmother, Ms. Laus, at the Jeanine Payer counter last week. Ms. Laus, asked about another Asian woman whose mother used to work in Jewelry and after thinking for a moment I realized she was talking about me but with short hair! What fun it was to see her again and meet the family!

Emily was also wearing these very cool navy blue suede Pumas with red laces.
"Outstanding"!, as my father would say!
