Wonderful to see....

that even in the high priced hood of Brooklyn Heights a little bit of that old Idaho, no need to "fancy it up" attitude lives on. I am not being funny here, I really like that  not everything has to be scrubbed and shiny to be loved.

Christmas is coming....

at 80 miles per hour!  I passed this truck carrying a very large amount of trees on there way to find new homes for the holidays. It reminded me that the Holidays are speeding quickly toward a crescendo and I am playing catch up in the left lane.....

A whale of a story...

yesterday at the shop in Grand Central a lovely woman purchased this bedside decanter for her husband, its their anniversary. Then she told us this wonderful story of why. You see they were engaged at the Natural History Museum in NYC under the great Whale... When she was a young girl her father asked her when she thought she would get married and she said NEVER, then he asked her when she might have kids and she said NEVER. When he explained that someday she would fall in love and get married she was aghast. Then he asked her what someone would have to do in order to marry her... she thought long and hard and then said they would have to propose under the whale in the Natural History Museum, thinking that since they lived in New Jersey that she would never be able to get to NYC and thus it could never happen! Well it did and that's exactly where her future husband proposed!
This story reaffirmed my love of being a shop keeper. Being able to share in wonderful memories and helping to advance more happy times is the best part of my job!

We received these wonderful calendars by Jacqueline Schmidt and they are flying off the shelves. The theme is fauna that mate for life, what could be a more heartfelt sentiment than that. Jac's illustrations are beautiful, she even makes a termite look sweet and loving.

Angry Swan...

makes me happy. This photo was taken by Terry Richardson of Anna Dello Russo at a party in Paris and it makes me very, verry happy! The creative forces of this would are what keeps me sane and always interested in moving forward... Fly little one, fly!!

Yesterday we received a new shipment of wonderful Bohemian glass from the Czech Republic. They packed it in recycled junk food bags, I loved the contrast between the two.
My favorite is this Frutti De Mare design, I really want one to sit beside my bed but I think I'd fill it with Vodka!
